What is an IMO?

An Independent Marketing Organization (IMO) is a firm that works as an intermediary between insurance carriers, financial institutions and individual insurance advisors. Our primary role is to facilitate the distribution of insurance and financial products and services.

About Us

Tommy Dispenza is the President and Founder of Cardinal Financial Group.

He started his career in the financial services industry in 2002 with an IMO in Philadelphia, PA. His first role was as a marketing support specialist where he learned the importance of cultivating relationships with independent insurance advisors as well as associates from the insurance carriers. From there, he actively helped to start a new IMO in 2005. He spent the next 17+ years as the VP of Annuity Marketing there and continued to learn the industry but most importantly was fortunate enough to create partnerships and alliances with some of the best minds in the trade.

In December of 2022, he decided to branch out and start his own IMO, Cardinal Financial Group. The cardinal was chosen as the symbol to represent this new company because it both reminds him of those that he has lost and those who have helped him get to where he is today. Just as cardinals thrive together, business relationships flourish through mutual support and collaboration.

Personally, Tommy spent his childhood growing up in Columbia, MD with his parents and two sisters. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Marketing at Towson University located outside Baltimore, MD. He currently resides in Marlton, NJ with his wife Gina and his three children Gabby, Joey and Melania. When he is not working you can normally find him cheering or coaching on the soccer, basketball, field hockey, lacrosse and football fields.
